Music is my first love.  I played my grandmother’s piano as a child and have been hooked ever since. Although I am a business woman there is a synergy to be connected to the music world.  It inspires all aspects of your work and propels you to look at the world around you in a different manner.  My creative expression is being a musician, writer of lyrics and poem, as well as the occasional song.

To be a musician you need to be a good listener.  This is what has propelled me to understand what each piece of music requires and then choose to play the appropriate instrument, whether it be bass, guitar, piano, organ or clarinet.  Each instrument has its own speciality.  This also gives me insight to what my other band members are hearing and makes me appreciate their platform.  When an artist shares their work, they are sharing a piece of themselves.  That is what moves me to create and play music and connect with an audience.  The aility to share my thoughts through the expression of jazz, blues predominantly, as well as many other genre.  Music is the best way to convey my thoughts and feelings, and brings me joy.   That may be in a small ensemble or in a large big band, or even as an accompanist for a vocalist.  That excitement may be as a rhythm guitar giving the backbone to the brass section or playing lead lines on a piano.  I’m not stuck with one instrument or musical style.  The Auckland Big Band I play in is a community lead group of semi professionals, all with regular day jobs, all lovers of good swing music.

Having completed a master certificate in guitar through Berklee Online, I took the next step and completed a Bachelor degree in Professional Studies, majoring in guitar with the American institute.

This is in the pursuit of becoming the best musician, writer and arranger I can be, and to never stop listening and learning.  I am available as an accompanist and band member as required.  I also record on a regular basis and have an interest in arranging and music for video.
